The Farm

After touring uncountable horse facilities, and prowling around farms for sale, we found a wonderful spot. In August of 2013, we moved onto Lawnacres. It was a surprisingly smooth adjustment from city life to country living.

Smooth in that Jennifer never looked back longingly at her city life. But 2013 was a scramble to turn ourselves into farmers overnight. By the end of the first year, the horses were happy and adjusted, and the property was nearly overrun with blackberries and nettles. We've been systematically reclaiming acreage, one bramble at a time. This year's project is revitalizing the raised beds to support more than our succulent strawberry crop.

It's amazing to see the unique beauty that each season brings. It's like having a whole different property every few months. As soon as you start to miss the daffodils, the wisteria starts to bloom and as those blossoms fall, the trees turn to fireworks. Then the hush of the first snow comes. Spring rain - rinse, repeat.
